Bill Moran

SHORELINE — Bill Moran, a 58-year resident of Shoreline, died of heart disease Aug. 3, 2024, at his home. He was 94.

Born May 4, 1930, in Seattle to Charles and Catherine Moran, he grew up in Ballard and attended St. Alphonsus School and O’Dea High School. He served in the United States Navy for four years before a career as a gardener.

He married Anne Angelini in November 1954. They were married for 46 years and raised eight children. Their children say they instilled in them the value of hard work, a strong faith and caring for others.

He was a member of St. Luke Parish in Shoreline. His favorite pastimes included being with his family, watching his kids’ sporting events, spending time at the family cabin and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anne Moran, brother Mike Moran and sister Darlene Irish.

He is survived by sons Glenn and Tom Moran; daughters Mary Baehm, Robin Fenton, Sharon Westphalen, Kellee Hoobler, Carol Peterson and Dianne Harris; sister Joan Lillie; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 16 at St. Luke Church in Shoreline, with interment at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.


Rosemary Jesmer

EVERETT — Rosemary Helen Jesmer, a 25-year resident of Bothell, died Aug. 6, 2024, in Everett. She was 99.

Born July 22, 1925, to Daniel and Claire O’Neill in Fargo, North Dakota, she moved to Seattle when she was 5. She attended Holy Names Academy and Seattle University.

She married her childhood sweetheart Gordon Jesmer in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1945, while he was serving in the Navy. They raised their family in Alderwood Manor, now Lynnwood.

A devoted homemaker and mother to 10, she was happiest when her family came together for holidays and special occasions. She was a talented singer, performing on the radio in her youth and later in church choirs and at church events.

She was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Mountlake Terrace and later St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Bothell. Known for her unwavering dedication to her family and Christ, she will be remembered for her smile, impeccable memory, sharp sense of humor and infectious laugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, five siblings and daughters Susan and Betty. She is survived by children Gordon, Stephen, Lawrence, Patricia, Christine, Alan, Jeanie and Maryanne, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 22 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bothell, with interment at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.


Ethel Davidson

TACOMA — Ethel Mae Davidson died Aug. 22, 2024, at the Tacoma home of her granddaughter, where she’d lived for 10 years. She was 102.

She was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Tacoma. She married Robert “Bob” Davidson, and they enjoyed 67 years together until his death in 2008. They owned several restaurants in Tacoma, including The Friendly Duck, Spout ‘n’ Toad, and the Silver Unicorn.   

In addition to owning restaurants, she was a chaplain, a nurse and a homemaker. Although she earned a pilot’s license, she never flew a plane.

She was a member of St. Rita Parish in Tacoma and All Saints Parish in Puyallup for many years. She dabbled in writing and painting and loved traveling with her husband. Visits to Russia and France were among her favorites. Her family says they will remember her sense of humor, candy jars and martinis.

She is survived by sons Robert (LeeAnn) Davidson, William (Beth) Davidson and Douglas (Kathy) Davidson; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Interment was Sept. 5 at Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way.
